Early Sketches for “Mary’s Garden”

These designs did not make it. Too conservative and not exciting enough. The fuzzy skirt above was to be made out of astroturf remnants from my downstairs neighbor’s patio. I will still be using astroturf in the final design.
I am also hoping for a 4th accessory involving astroturf on the flip flop shoes my model will be wearing.

Side view Manolo Blahnik detail of Prayer Flag

Side view of Blahnik shoe bag. I like these side views as they seem to get the idea across.
This is for a art show in January 2011 on materialism and ‘Pop.’
This is the first of five prayer flags, made from a flannel designer shoe bag. Tibetan prayer flags comes in sets of five colors (white, blue, red, green, yellow).
There are also have five ‘directions’ associated with each of the flags, with the first being ‘center.’ Hence the center facing fish, and the white flag.
It is my take on how consuming, in some circles, is more a religion.
